Dear Family & Friends,
Three years ago, I started raising money for the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation as my mitzvah project. It was a very personal cause for me because my uncle Jeff was fighting stage four lung cancer. Sadly, my uncle (“Lebo”) lost his battle against this terrible disease just two days before my bar mitzvah. Lebo made us all promise to celebrate anyway because "the show must go on!" He was weak and in a great deal of pain, but somehow he gave me a fist bump as encouragement. As you can imagine, this was an incredible inspiration. He inspired me on that day and he continues to inspire me today...
I have taken my uncle's advice to heart and the "the show must go on!" We haven't found a cure so my quest MUST continue.
The GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer is the result of a 2019 merger between the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and Lung Cancer Alliance. Together they represent 30 years of experience. The medicines, technology, and support from organizations such as the GO2 Foundation are vital to those patients fighting to stay alive.
Lebo fought so hard for his own survival in the face of difficult odds. He may not be with us today, but his fight is not over. We must continue to assist those organizations supporting the current patients suffering from the disease with the ultimate goal of finding a cure.
I am inspired by my uncle's courage and the way he continued to live his life performing his own mitzvahs every day. I cannot think of a better way to honor my uncle, along with my aunt Robin and 14 year old cousin Kenny, then to continue this fight.
Every year, lung cancer takes more lives than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined and yet it's the least funded. My goal is simple: to make a positive impact on patient lives and support lung cancer research. The show must go on...
We will be walking in memory of my uncle Jeff, and we would all love for you to join us at Hollywood North Beach Park next Saturday, November 2nd at 8:15 A.M.
